Grow with me

Dave Brown

I try to feature artists or shops that have brought joy to my home and garden with unique pieces, and this craftsman has not only brought joy to our home, but to my life. You may have already guessed it. This craftsman and “Mr. Fix It” is my husband, Dave.

my visions on paper

Dave has pretty much taken my rough sketches and brought them into reality, or has been the “fixer” of projects completed by “the pros” that just did not turn out how I envisioned. Dave has also created some fun projects of his own for his workshop and around the house.

There really is not much that Dave cannot fix. He methodically works to figure out a solution, and then gets to it. Whether it is mechanical, technical, woodworking, etc., he can pretty much do it all. He may not always want to do it all, but “Happy Wife. Happy Life.” I kid! I kid! In reality, he probably knows that I will try to do it myself.

rivet gun fix

I think one of the first things Dave introduced to me was the rivet gun. I had a screen door that constantly would slip down, so I would literally jack up the door to get it to go back in place. Of course, Dave thought I was a bit cray-cray, and wondered what the heck I was doing, but the rivet gun had become my best friend. That door hasn’t slipped since 2010.

Since that day, there have been so many projects, remodels, renovations, and crafty creations. Many we have worked on together, while others Dave did on his own. Here is a tiny collection of projects.

The biggest project has been “The Big She Shed Project of 2019,” and the hardest project has been my grandmother’s hope chest. Keep checking back to see more from Dave. I am MOST certain there will be more to come. I only say this because I still have a long to-do list. Shh… don’t tell Dave.
